Branch

A separate version of the project in git, where you work on something new without breaking the main version. It’s not a copy in another folder: in one folder you’re on a single branch at a time. When you’re happy, you merge the branch into the main version.

You’ll also find it as: branches

How it appears in the course

Git rules: what the working branches are called, how the save messages (commits) are written.
What goes in CLAUDE.md, and what stays out? · Module 02, CLAUDE.md: your project’s memory
"statusLine" — a line of information shown at the bottom of the screen (for example which git branch you’re on, which model you’re using, how much you’ve used). You set it up easily with the /statusline command.
What other useful settings are there? · Module 03, Permissions: what Claude may do
At every start, this hook tells Claude which branch you’re working on and what tasks you have. A branch is a separate version of the project in git, the system that keeps the history of changes.
