What if the installation fails?

Most problems have simple fixes. Take them one by one:
- The app won’t download or install. Check your internet connection and that your system (macOS or Windows) is up to date. Restart the computer and try again.
- The Microsoft Store doesn’t work, for example on a work laptop. Try the
wingetcommand from the Windows lesson. If your company has blocked installs, use a personal computer. - You can’t sign in. Check that you’re using the same account as on chatgpt.com. Sign out and sign in again.
- You don’t see
Codexin the menu. Update the app. On Free or Go, access may come later. With Plus, Codex is included. - Codex can’t write to the folder. Check that you opened the right folder and that you chose
Ask for approvalunder the composer.
What you never do:
- install the app from anywhere other than the official sources;
- give your account details to websites that promise “cheaper Plus”;
- pay someone to “activate” your account.
