How do you make small changes by chatting?
Installation and your first project · lesson 9 of 12
The first version is rarely exactly what you want. You don’t have to start over. You tell Codex what to change, in the same chat.
The rule: one change per message, then check in the browser. A few good requests:
Make the monthly total bigger and put the € sign before every amount.
Use warm colours: a cream background and brown headings.
Switch between the two versions:
All at once
> change the colours, add YouTube, make it prettier and add a chart too
● I’m changing the colours, adding YouTube, redoing the layout and adding a chart…
⎿ Made 4 changes in index.html
= If something comes out wrong, you don’t know which of the 4 changes caused it.
---
One at a time
> Add YouTube Premium, €12 a month, and update the total.
● Adding the row and recalculating the total…
⎿ Changed index.html. New total: €74.
= You see the effect right away. If you don’t like it, you drop just this change.
You can also point directly at the page.
In the built-in browser’s toolbar, choose Annotate, click an element and write what you want changed.
Then write in the chat: “Address the comments on the page.”
Don’t like a change? Write: “Undo the last change and go back to the previous version.” You’ll make real save points in module 04.
