Which keys and shortcuts should you know from the start?

Key / command What it does
Enter Sends the message
Shift+Enter / \ + Enter Starts a new line without sending (set up with /terminal-setup)
Esc Stops whatever Claude is doing
Esc Esc Takes you back to an earlier message (“rewind”, like winding a tape back)
Shift+Tab Switches the working mode: normal → auto-accept → plan
@path/to/file Shows Claude a specific file (adds it to the context)
!command Runs a terminal command directly, without going through Claude (“bash mode”)
/ Shows the list of commands and skills (extra abilities)
↑ Shows the messages you wrote earlier
Ctrl+R Searches through the messages you wrote earlier
